Backus Memorial Day Services

Pastor Blair Ecker of the Pine Mountain Gospel Church in Backus, will give Memorial Day addresses at Backus and Ponto Lake cemeteries conducted by the Backus American Legion and Auxiliary.
The Backus Legion tribute to deceased veterans who served their country will include singing of America the Beautiful, remarks by Legion Commander Bill Taylor and Auxiliary President Jean Dawson, and Ponto Lake Town Board Chairman James Ballenthin. The Memorial address will follow by Pastor Ecker, who is a Navy veteran, and the service will also include the laying of a memorial poppy wreath, a color guard rifle salute and the playing of taps.
Backus services will begin at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, and the Ponto Lake service will follow the conclusion of the Backus memorial at approximately 11 a.m., both on Monday, May 25.
