Ceremonial Keg Tapping Devil’s Washboard Beer at Ruttger’s Bay Lake Lodge

The beer is named Devil’s Washboard Bavarian Märzen and was brewed exclusively for Ruttger’s by Cuyuna Brewing Company. It is an amber-colored beer made with special Bavarian hops, giving it a distinct German flavor. This flavor palette is in honor of the Ruttger family’s heritage.

“We’re proud to be able to have our own brand of craft beer, especially one that so perfectly represents who we are as a family and a resort,” Ruttger’s President Chris Ruttger said. “We are very thankful to be able to partner with Nick and Laura Huisinga at Cuyuna Brewing. They are true beer artists.”

The Ceremonial Keg Tapping Party will include a blessing of the keg, beer samples, live music, food and giveaways. After that, Devil’s Washboard will be available all summer long exclusively at the Bear Pine Bar & Grill, and Zig’s Restaurant & Bar.

The story behind the name
The name Devil’s Washboard pays homage to the resort’s history. Devil’s Washboard is a small area near Placid Lake a few miles from Ruttger’s where the timbers were harvested that were used to build the lodge.
