SUMMARY:Visual Flow Photography Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Crossing Arts presents its newest exhibition ‘Visual Flow In New Landscape And Nature Photography’\, Photography by Mark Moser\, Crystal Olson\, and Mike Vogt. \n‘Visual Flow In New Landscape And Nature Photography’ blurs the distinction between observed and constructed imagery. This exhibition examines how three local photographers\, Mark Moser\, Crystal Olson\, and Mike Vogt\, stretch the boundaries of traditional photography in nature and landscape settings\, to reflect their environmental attitudes\, perceptions\, and values. The images featured in this exhibition depict both raw natural beauty\, as well as man-made features found in the landscape. \nOpening February 5\, this exhibition will be on display in our gallery through February 26. DESCRIPTION:Crossing Arts presents its newest exhibition ‘Following My Creative Compass\, Works By Paula Jensen’. \n‘Following My Creative Compass’ is an artistic journey of Paula Jensen’s work and creative process over the last thirty years. Beginning through experimentation in two-dimensional sketching and painting\, and later finding a strong connection to metalwork and three-dimensional sculpture\, she uses her mastery of technique to express her understanding of herself and the world around her. Jensen’s work conveys great beauty through her use of traditional sculpting methods\, fine details in each piece\, and the overall uniqueness of the medium\, but she has an eye for irony\, magic\, fantasy\, and the strange\, all things that can be found in her metal sculptures. \nOpening October 9\, this exhibition will be on display in our gallery through October 31. Using chalk pastels and toned black paper you’ll be guided through a few techniques and applications of chalk pastels to achieve a vibrant Northern Lights landscape. This medium tends to be a bit messy and an art shirt is recommended. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening reception of our newest exhibition ‘Oil & Water’\, Contemporary Works By Lonnie Knutson\, on Friday\, March 6\, from 5 – 7 pm. Free will offering at the door. Light refreshments will be served. Enjoy mingling with fellow artists and arts enthusiasts. \n‘Oil & Water’ takes an abstract focus through Lonnie Knutson’s unique and creative painting style. From her original work painting watercolor landscapes\, she has created artwork in a myriad of mediums and subject matters throughout her life\, but creating abstract art is where she has landed\, and it has provided a welcoming challenge which she loves. Knutson’s work begins with a seed and grows\, building on layers giving depth and importance to each artistic mark within the work. She gains inspiration from nature\, which can clearly be seen through her choice of color pallet\, as well as through the weaving of organic and geometric shapes throughout her paintings. All artists hope to grow\, stretch and experiment during their lifetime of creating\, and abstract painting is Knutson’s stretch now. DESCRIPTION:Join us for Second Saturday events at TCAA! \n10-11:30 AND 12-1:30\nKids will be creating HeART Strings. We will be featuring a craft we like to describe as HeART Strings. Utilizing simplistic materials such as wood\, nails and colorful string/yarn you will create a rustic and charming heart image. The technique of pulling\, stretching and looping the strings/yarns from nail to nail is rhythmic and encourages the development of fine motor skills. Join us in pulling at HeART Strings this February in The Crossing Arts Classroom. \nThis class is sponsored by CTC \nPre-registration is required for this class. Located in our classroom at 711 Laurel St\, downtown Brainerd. \n10AM TO 12PM\nMeet our featured Member Artist\, Molly Mae. Molly became fully immersed in the art world at a young age when she met Evelyn Matthies\, who became her art teacher\, mentor\, and best friend. Learning through Evelyn’s eyes\, gave Molly a deep passion to create and grow her art practice throughout the years. Molly primarily works in acrylic painting\, as it is the medium she started with and is most fluent in. She also enjoys working with oil pastel and mixed media\, and has recently delved into larger work through murals\, as well as the medium of body painting. Over the last few years\, Molly has learned to paint more from her heart\, rather than her head and past knowledge. Her love of storytelling\, personal memories\, and emotions have all made their way into her creative process and finished artwork. View some of her pieces on display\, talk with her\, and learn more about the process for creating her artwork. \n10AM TO 2PM\nIn our gallery\, our current exhibition\, ‘LOVE’\, will be on display. This exhibition asks the question\, “What is your interpretation of love?”. To some people it may be a place or a person\, others a feeling or an object\, maybe a work of art or memory from the past\, or perhaps something completely different? DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening reception of our newest exhibition ‘LOVE’\, on Friday\, February 7\, from 5 – 7 pm. Free will offering at the door. Light refreshments will be served. Enjoy mingling with fellow artists and arts enthusiasts. \nOur LOVE Exhibition is sponsored by Joey Halvorson. \nThis exhibition asks the question\, “What is your interpretation of love?”. To some people it may be a place or a person\, others a feeling or an object\, maybe a work of art or memory from the past\, or perhaps something completely different?
