DESCRIPTION:February 1\, 2025\n12:00 pm – 3:00 pm\nHole in the Day Bay\, Gull Lake \nThe largest charitable ice fishing contest in North America! \nIce Fishing’s largest prize package will be up for grabs as thousands of anglers–the event regularly draws a crowd near or over 10\,000 ice-fishing participants–take to the ice for a day of fun with family and friends. \nWith $150\,000 in cash and prizes\, this event is a can’t miss affair! All proceeds are donated to area charities. Confidence Learning Center is the primary beneficiary. \nThe event is held at the Hole In The Day Bay on Gull Lake\, where 20\,000 holes are pre-drilled for contestants. At noon the cannon will go off and the fishing will start. There will be concessions serving Beer\, Pop and food. \nThe 2025 Ice Fishing Extravaganza is on February 1\, 2025. There are a variety of ways to get tickets for this event. \nPurchase on the Ice\nTickets can be purchased in the ticket tent on Gull Lake starting at 8:00 a.m. on the day of the contest. Showcasing an ice bar\, food and live music\, the Tent Party is a super way to kick off the evening. \nSaturday morning begins with Snow Golf ! Here you can jump on provided shuttles and play 10 holes of winter golf at 10 different locations around the Gull Lake. We provide the golf club and a fresh supply of tennis balls so all you have to do is venture around the lake and try getting a point at each location. The diversity of each “golf” hole variety keeps the day entertaining. A Digital Scavenger Hunt also takes place throughout the day so keep that phone charged up. If you get a picture at each given location you will be entered to win 2 free tickets to the following Frozen Fore Winter Weekend. In the evening\, the Saturday night Tent Party kicks off again with hours of great music under the heated tent. Stayed tuned for more Saturday activities\, we are always added more. \nFinishing the Frozen Fore weekend is Sunday’s Food Fest. This cook-off features a variety of local restaurants showcasing their flavors in a taste competition for the best flavors in the area. The event is organized by the Brainerd Jaycees\, a community organization that focuses on personal development and community service. \nContest Format\nThis year\, anglers will be converting length to points. Fish length will be entered into the app by the ¼” increment into the FishDonkey app. The tournament officials will verify and approve the contestant’s measurement\, then convert that length to the corresponding point value for that species. For example\, a 15-inch walleye/sauger is worth 25 points\, while a 21-inch northern or a 7.5 inch crappie are worth approximately 25 points each. DESCRIPTION:BRAINERD ICE FISHING EXTRAVAGANZA GOES STATEWIDE AND VIRTUAL\n\nBrainerd MN : Tournament organizers\, along with the direction of state officials\, have made the decision to continue forward with the annual charitable ice fishing contest in a virtual format. Officials have determined that due to the ongoing pandemic the most responsible choice is to continue the tradition of the Extravaganza in a different way\, asking anglers to fish on any lake in Minnesota during the normal contest time and date. “Safety of all involved is our main concern this year\,” said event chairperson Benji Thoennes\, “we know that the event will be different\, but we hope to encourage everyone to get out fishing with their families and win some great prizes\, which keeps in line with what the Extravaganza has always been about.”\n\n\n\nThe Brainerd Jaycees Virtual Ice Fishing Extravaganza in will take place on January 30th\, 2021 from 12pm-3pm central time. Participants will be allowed to participate on any lake in the state of Minnesota. All six eligible fish species native to Brainerd’s Gull Lake will be announced at a later date. Fish will be entered into a web-based application by the contestant. The application will go live\, in real time\, day of the contest.\n\n\n\nPre-purchased tickets must be registered by January 15th\, 2021 to be eligible to participate in the new format. DESCRIPTION:In the early 1990s the Brainerd Jaycees had a desire to develop a signature project—a project that would rally members\, raise money for local charities\, and provide avenues for individual growth\, personal development\, and leadership. With the first contest being held in January 1991\, it is certain the founders never expected this event would become the world’s largest ice fishing contest and put Brainerd\, MN\, on the map with a winter event that generates over $1-million in revenue for area businesses and over $150\,000 for area charities annually. \nThe Ice Fishing Extravaganza is held in January (typically the fourth Saturday of the month) on Gull Lake’s Hole in the Day Bay. It is an ice fishing contest where anglers compete for nearly $200\,000 in cash and prizes. There are 150 spots on the prize board and the values are distributed throughout the list. Contestants are judged on the weight of their fish only—not the particular species of fish caught or length. All fish are weighed and are time-stamped so in the event of a tie the first fish weighed takes precedence. \nClick here to buy your tickets! http://icefishing.org \nTips \nWhat to bring and what not to bring to the contest: \n\nWarm clothes – especially good boots.\nCash for vendors\, credit card if you want to purchase tickets with it versus cash\, drivers license\, and fishing license.\nIce chisel – We drill holes on Friday so some ice might build up by Saturday morning.\nBait – we do not provide or sell bait on the ice.\nFish/Depth locator\nContest ticket\, bring string or wire to hang the ticket on the outside of your clothing like a ski ticket.\nFishing poles and gear\, etc…\nBucket or large plastic bag to put the fish in if you catch one\, we are hoping to keep the fish alive and release them.
