SUMMARY:Give to The Max Day & TheShop!
DESCRIPTION:Hello wonderful supporters of TheShop! \nGiveMN’s Give to The Max Day is almost upon us! November 19th is coming with undue haste\, and we at TheShop have been busy doing our best to support local youth during this tumultuous year\, and we need your help! Whether that is by donating monetarily\, donating supplies\, or just by sharing about TheShop to your community connections\, your help impacts our youth in a significant and meaningful way. \nIn the spring we made sure the youth who rely on us for food\, hygiene supplies\, and connection had a way to still have those needs met through our food distribution program. Thanks to a handful of volunteers\, we were able to provide hot\, ready to go evening meals four days a week. Our bike room window became our “drive-thru” and it was wonderful to see the youth\, even briefly\, as they came to pick up food for themselves and their families. \nWe opened to the public again in June and it was wonderful to have laughter and chatter in TheShop again. Youth were happy to have their space back and came with lots of questions\, comments\, and concerns with the state of the world and social issues that were present at the time. Productive and thoughtful conversations were had amongst youth and adults; having a place to feel heard and to express and experiment with ideas is vital to all of us as humans. \nTheShop continues to provide a physical space for youth at present while we are also beginning to establish an online presence. Zoom provides us with a fun and functional way to connect to more youth in ways that are safe for ourselves and our community. We plan to offer an array of online offerings\, including games\, music/music lessons\, languages\, and possibly some tutoring. \nYour support\, in whatever way you are able to provide it\, is so appreciated by all of us here at TheShop.
