“What the World Needs Now…” – Legacy Chorale Concert
November 22 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Dubbed “Broadway for Orlando,” 68 stars of the contemporary Broadway stage rerecorded Burt Bacharach’s famous popular song from 1965 to honor the victims and those wounded in the 2016 Orlando shooting massacre at Pulse nightclub. This reworked version of What the World Needs Now is Love is the centerpiece for the chorale’s Fall 2019 concert series, and will feature almost 30 soloists from the Legacy Chorale. Audiences will enjoy many other inspirational songs, such as If Music Be the Food of Love by Minnesota composer, David Dickau; gospel tunes and spirituals, including the roof-raising paean to singing, I Will Sing by Rosephanye Powell; Leonard Cohen’s now-famous Hallelujah; and an audience sing-along to I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing! The Isle High School Concert Choir, directed by Dwight Przybilla, will also perform at the Nov. 22 concert in Aitkin, as part of The Legacy Chorale’s High School Outreach Program.
