The Waddle Like A Duck Half Marathon

Sponsored by Shores of Leech Lake Resort and City Sanitary Service of Walker, the 2018 event donated more than $7,000 to local charities including the Walker Area Community Center, Walker Area Pregnancy Support, Walker Legion Riders and Walker Youth Hockey. New this year, the Half Marathon will include pacers! Lost Dog Pacers group will guide runners to finish times between 1:30 and 2:20, in 10-minute increments.
The Walker Waddle includes a Half Marathon, 10K and 5k. Scenic courses start and finish lakeside in the Walker City Park. These walking/running events kick off the “Old Fashioned” 4th of July celebration in Walker, Minnesota. Festivities also include kids games, a beer garden, a grand parade and fireworks at dark.
Half Marathon
Chip start and finish. Finish line closes at 11 am. At least seven water/Gatorade stops. Gel packs at miles 2.5, 5.75 and 7.75. Medical aid/drop station at miles 5.75 and 7.75. Porta-Johns at miles; 1, 1.66. 2.5. 5.75, 7.75, 11.44, 12.1. Most of the course is on blacktop. Three+ miles is on gravel road. Flat course except a couple of pretty good hills between miles 5 and 5.75. No dogs. No strollers.
10k
Chip start and finish. Four water/Gatorade stops. Gel packs at miles 2.5 and 3.7. Medical aid station at finish line. Porta-Johns at miles; 1, 1.66. 2.5, 3.7, 5.2. Flat course, all blacktopped, out and back on State Trail. No dogs. No strollers.
5k
Chip start and finish. Two water/Gatorade stops. Medical aid station at finish line. Porta-Johns at miles; 1, 2.1. Flat course, all blacktopped, out and back on State Trail. No dogs. No strollers.
Registration Fees
Each participant will receive a technical running shirt (availability and sizes based on order of registration). Each age 21+ participant will receive a coupon for a free beer at the 4th of July beer garden. Each finisher will receive a commemorative race medal.
