Live Outdoor Music – BUK KLUB at Gull Dam Brewing
August 4 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Inside its distinct water wheel building, Gull Dam has made live entertainment part of its weekend programming. Every Friday and Saturday from 6-9 p.m., there’s a range of tunes from rock to blues, country, and everything in between, and never a cover charge.
This adventure started out as a neighborhood band to counter our wive’s “Book Club” . . . a group of friends getting together to learn a song or two while enjoying an ice cold beverage. It has evolved into a group of friends getting together to rehearse 50+ songs while enjoying an ice cold beverage or two . . . in order to play the music we love in front of huge, screaming audiences. We take songs from the 50’s through contemporary and try to give them our own heavy edge. Below is a bit more information about each of of our members. Enjoy!!
John Hasseler – Vocals, Guitar
John is the voice of the band. His gravely voice let’s you know we mean business, and his smile let’s you know just how much fun he is having. In addition to singing, John is an accomplished guitarist and a phenomenal jewelry artist. What a talent on so many levels.
Mark Medcalf – Drums, Vocals
The Englishman in the band, Mark is an exceptionally talented drummer who has played with many bands locally and internationally including The Steeles, The Rembrandts, Wen Bodin, and Slave Raider. He can literally play any style of music . . . so amazing. His passion for musical feeling comes through in everything he plays. Mark is truly the heart of the band.
Geoff Bremner – Bass, Vocals
Geoff is our rock steady bassist. He has played in a number of bands playing all styles of music, but Classic Rock is in his blood. He and Mark are a tight ryhthm unit that sets the tone for the rest of the band. Geoff is also an accomplished guitarist and songwriter.
Darren Matthews – Guitar, Vocals
The true Metalhead in the group, Darren usually makes every song sound a little heavier . . . whether that is appropriate or not. A guitar fanatic at heart, we never know which guitar he will show up with: Gibson, Fender, PRS, B.C. Rich, or maybe one he made himself. One thing is for sure, you’ll be able to tell that making music makes him one happy guy.
Mike McGraw – Guitar, Vocals
Mike has played in a number of bands in Minneapolis as well as Seattle. In fact, his Seattle band shared a practice studio with Courtney Love’s band, Hole . . . what a claim to fame. Mike changes guitars like he changes clothes. We won’t list any guitars here because chances are they have already been sold and replaced by now. He is now starting to change amps in the same way. We are just happy that he and his awesome playing stay the same.
