Gull Chain of Lakes Association’s 7th Annual Gala at Grandview Lodge

Carrol Henderson, renowned author and pioneer in the protection and conservation of Minnesota’s
nongame and endangered wildlife species, will be this year’s featured presenter at the Gull Chain of Lakes
Association’s seventh annual Gala – July 30th at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa.

The annual Gala event is the Lakes Association’s primary fundraiser each year to support the mission and yearround work of the organization. The event begins at 5 pm with a reception and silent auction, followed by
dinner and program at 6:30 pm.

Keynote presenter, Carrol Henderson, will discuss the impact of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill on Minnesota
loons, including satellite telemetry, use of geolocators, and analysis of blood, feathers and eggs relating to
contamination by petroleum and dispersant pollutants.

In 1977, Henderson was hired to create and develop Minnesota’s Nongame Wildlife Program for the
Department of Natural Resources. Over the past four decades, Henderson has development a statewide program
that has received both national and international recognition and is the author of more than a dozen books.

Tickets for the Gala are $45 per person and available at the GCOLA website – www.gcola.org.
One hundred raffle tickets are also available for $100 each and a chance to win a trip, including airfare and
accommodations for two, to St Lucia, Greece or Sao Miguel Island. Tickets are available by contacting any
