Dinner at the Lake: Art, Beer Tasting, and Walleye Dinner

July 19, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Long Lake Conservation Center Foundation invites you to our 2019 Dinner at the Lake.

Join us on a lovely summer evening to learn, explore, and wonder together. We are privileged to welcome Relay of Voices performing arts to Long Lake for a unique storytelling of the Mississippi River(1). In addition, we are hosting Forest to Tap’s Beer Tasting (2), followed by a home cooked MN Walleye and Wild Rice dinner at Long Lake Conservation Center. (3).

1. Relay of Voices, a project of 501c3 nonprofit A House Unbuilt, is a research expedition traveling down the Mississippi River Trail with the goal of gathering “voices” from the landscape and individual residents of the river region. The effort is shaped by a theory of “movement research” which uses the body as the empathetic center for listening and understanding, and it seeks to learn about how people live with water and the natural resources that surround it. Cultural data and geographic narratives will be gathered for future use by scientists, artists and policy makers.

The Relay is stopping on Long Lake Conservation for one night only on their way down the river to share and gather stories.

2. Rich Courtemanche, Brewer at Block North Brew Pub in Aitkin and the Aitkin County Land Commissioner marries his love of great beer and good forest management in an educational beer tasting focusing on our northwoods breweries and the number one ingredient they all share; high quality water. Rich represents a growing collaboration of brewers and natural resource professionals called Forest to Tap. Forest-to-Tap (F2T) project is designed to engage and educate the public on the healthy forest / clean water connection by creating a partnership between Craft Breweries and Natural Resources professionals.

3. The Long Lake Conservation Foundation (LLCF) is a non profit organization composed of dedicated supporters of Long Lake Conservation Center. This group consists of the members of Long Lake Conservation Center and the Board of Directors. The LLCF directors and associated volunteers, aka “Stewards”, provide valuable input, grassroots support, and help to promote Long Lake Conservation Center programs.

The LLCF Stewards have been active for the last several years in creating a connection with the community. Involved in fundraising and service projects, they make LLCC a wonderful resource for the residents of Aitkin County and beyond. The major purpose of the LLCF is to support and enhance the environmental education programs of Long Lake Conservation Center.
